Supervised Visitation

Supervised Visitation

Supervised Visitation is a process that protects the best interests of children whose parents have a custody or visitation matter within the court system. Sometimes, based on issues of protection and safety, a judge will decide that in order for a child to have contact with a parent, a neutral third party person must be present during visitation. A New York Center for Interpersonal Development staff member is there to keep the child(ren) safe and support children during the visit with the non-custodial parent. The staff member ensures the child(ren)’s visits are safe and free from unnecessary stress. The staff member is present at all times during the visit, documents what is being said, and pays close attention to the child(ren)’s behavior.
